La Porte visits Sterling Friday night in district play
The Baytown Sterling Rangers (2-4) host the La porte Bulldogs (5-1) Friday night.
Sterling was blown-out 50-13 by Westbrook on the road last week and are allowing allowing opponents 37 points per game while only averaging 31 points per game.
Qarterback Chance Nelson is having a nice season. Nelson has combined for 17 touchdowns and 1,205 yards while only throwing one interception.
Rangers running back Clitus Mixon has rushed for three touchdowns and is averaging over eight-yards per carry while also having 120 receiving yards.
Sterling's Jamar Gibson has six touchdown receptions and 476 receiving yards while averaging more than 16 yards per catch.
La Porte suffered their first defeat of the season two weeks ago, an agonizing 21-19 loss at Deer Park. The Bulldogs rebounded nicely last week shutting out Channelview 21-0 and are averaging 37 points per game while allowing opponents only 7 points per game.
The La Porte offense is averaging 304 rushing yards and 83 passing yards per game.
Quarterback Jeremy McNeil has combined for 17 touchdowns and 757 yards this season.
Bulldogs running back Anthony Webb has eight touchdowns and 614 rushing yards.
La Porte receivers Karl Terrebone and Aaron Nance-Garrett have combined for six touchdown receptions and 282 receiving yards.
John Wesby, Keith Whitely, and Ben Flores each have two interceptions for La Porte.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm at Stallworth Stadium.
