Texas City-La Marque Chamber Of Commerce honored at TCCE Conference
A local chamber of commerce has placed second in a statewide competition.
The second-place ranking in the website and social media marketing division was granted to the Texas City-La Marque Chamber. The honor was announced recently during the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives Annual Excellence Awards Conference.
Also during the conference, La Marque Chamber President Jimmy Hayley received a 25-year service award. Chamber members Jenny Senter, Leanne Post and Lorrie Koster received 20-year service awards.
The statewide annual chamber conference took place June 25 in Bastrop. Awards presented during the conference honor organizations for exceptional efforts in marketing, communications and media outreach and are judged in seven categories, including Outstanding Chamber Map, Outstanding Brochure, Outstanding Magazine or Directory, Excellence in Print or Electronic Newsletter, Outstanding Chamber Website, Excellence in Social Media Marketing and Communications and Outstanding Marketing Campaign.
"This is an extremely tough competition," said Bruce Partain, TCCE media awards chairman, in a press release. "Rest assured that the chambers that won these awards faced stiff competition from their fellow chambers of commerce."
More than 200 entries were submitted to the competition.
"One of the primary responsibilities for a chamber is to promote the organization, community and their chamber's members," said Beth Journeay, TCCE incoming chair and president of the Angleton Chamber of Commerce, in the release. "By winning this award, the Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce can be held up as an example of one of the best at promoting the chamber, its businesses and providing excellent information to the citizens in Texas City and La Marque."
