Dobie releases 2012 football schedule
Dobie High School released its varsity football schedule for the upcoming season.
Led by coach Jim Phillips, the Longhorns went 7-4 overall and 4-1 in District 22-5A last season, losing 34-14 to North Shore in the playoffs.
The Longhorns begin the 2012-13 season at home against Atascocita on Friday, Aug. 31.
La Porte hits the road the following week with a visit to Clear Springs on Thursday, Sept. 6. They stay on the road to battle Clear Falls on Thursday, Sept. 13, and next head to South Houston on Friday, Sept. 28 before finally coming back home to mix it up with Memorial on Friday, Oct. 5.
It's back on the road for two tough games against Manvel on Friday, Oct. 12 and Alvin on Friday, Oct. 19. Then it's home to meet district rival Pasadena on Thursday, Oct. 25, followed by a road game against Sam Rayburn on Thursday, Nov. 1.
The team finishes its season hosting Pearland on Thursday, Nov. 8.
All Thursday and Friday games begin at 7 p.m., while all Saturday contests start at 6 p.m.
Should the Longhorns qualify for the postseason, the first round of the 5A Texas state playoffs would begin the weekend of Nov. 16.
Dobie plays its home games at the 9.500-seat Veterans Memorial Stadium, located at 2305 East Main St., League City.
